Recently a client of mine experienced the following problem. He wanted to save his word document he was working on with a different name. No problem we said, just select File – Save as… and type the new filename.

WRONG !?!?

The command wasn’t available anymore in the File menu. What the ****?  How did he manage to get rid of this? Well it turns out this can be done quite simply, just press CTRL+ALT+- and your cursor changes into a big minus sign.

If you select an option with the cursor changed like this, this option will disappear.

 

You can revert the cursor change by pressing ESC.

How to get the command back? Right click somewhere in the command bar area and select customize..

Select the Save As… command and drag this to the File menu.

Drop the command on the place you want in the menu and the command is available again.
